We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains what information Quiz Media LLC, the operator of Quizbrain ("we", "us", or "our"), collects when you use quiz-brain.com and our Quizbrain mobile apps for Android and iOS (together, the "service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the service, you agree to the practices described here.
If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the service.
Information we collect
We try to collect only what we need to run the service:
- Email address β when you sign in. We use passwordless "magic link" sign-in, so your email is used to send you a secure login link and to identify your account.
- Account and gameplay data β a display name you choose, plus the quiz results, scores, and progress we save to your account.
- IP address β collected automatically and used for security and abuse prevention.
- Usage and analytics data β basic information about how you interact with the site, gathered through analytics tools.
How we use your information
- Email: to send sign-in links and contact you about your account.
- Account and gameplay data: to save your progress, show your scores, and power features such as leaderboards.
- IP address: security and fraud prevention.
- Analytics: to understand usage and improve the experience.
Leaderboards and public information
If you choose to take part in a leaderboard, the display name you pick and your associated quiz scores may be visible to other users. Please avoid using your real name or any detail you would not want shown publicly β you can change or hide your display name at any time in your account settings.
How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that help us run the website, and only as needed to provide the service:
- Supabase β our authentication and database provider, which stores your account, sign-in, and gameplay data on our behalf.
- Analytics providers β to measure traffic and usage.
- Advertising partners β including Google AdSense on our website and Google AdMob in our mobile apps, which may use cookies or your device's advertising ID to show and measure ads (see "Advertising and cookies" and "In our mobile apps" below).
- Purchase and app-store providers β RevenueCat and the Google Play and Apple App Store billing systems, which process and confirm any in-app purchases you make in our apps. We never receive your full payment-card details.
- Internal cookies β to keep you signed in, remember your progress, and record your consent choices.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to display ads on this website. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices. For users in the European Economic Area and the UK, we ask for your consent before any non-essential advertising cookies are set.
In our mobile apps
Our Quizbrain apps for Android and iOS collect and use information as described above, with a few additions specific to apps:
- Advertising identifier β the apps use your device's advertising ID (the Android Advertising ID or Apple's Identifier for Advertisers) to show ads and measure how they perform.
- Ads and ad interactions β we show ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may use your advertising ID and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted. If we later add other ad or mediation networks (for example Unity Ads), we will update this Policy. See how Google uses data in its ad products.
- Purchases β if you buy coins, credits, or an ad-free upgrade, the purchase is handled by the app store (Google Play or the Apple App Store) and by our purchase provider, RevenueCat, which confirms the purchase and records what you bought. We never receive your full payment-card details.
- Approximate location β our analytics derives a coarse, city-level location from your device's IP address; it is not precise location, and we do not access your device's GPS.
Your ad choices on mobile. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings (on Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads; on iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Apple Advertising). On iOS we ask, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, before using your advertising ID for tracking, and you can change that choice at any time in iOS Settings. In the European Economic Area and the UK, the app shows a consent screen (Google's User Messaging Platform) before serving personalized ads, and you can withdraw or change your consent later from within the app.
Access and deletion
You can ask what personal information we hold about you and, in most cases, request a copy. You can also ask us to delete your account and its associated data β see Delete your account for exactly how, and what is removed. Before acting on a request we may need to verify your identity. We may retain certain information where we have a legal obligation, need to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements, or for legitimate security and technical reasons such as preserving the integrity of our systems.
Your GDPR rights (EEA users)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, as well as a right to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below β we may ask you to confirm your identity first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Your CCPA rights (California users) β do not sell my personal information
We do not sell your personal information for money. That said, some advertising technologies β including our use of cookies on the website and your device's advertising ID in our apps to enable interest-based advertising through partners such as Google AdSense and Google AdMob β may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California law. To opt out, use the ad choices described in "Advertising and cookies" and "In our mobile apps" above, adjust your device's advertising settings, decline the iOS tracking prompt, or contact us β and we will honor your request.
Children
The service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, and afterward only as long as necessary to meet our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the "last updated" date below.
